His favorite experience as a brother was attending PhiDE Formal.
Alex Orfanos
Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine
Alex is a 3rd year medical student at Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine. For Alex, PhiDE was his “favorite group of individuals to socialize with at Cornell. I'm very fortunate to have met some of best friends from Cornell through PhiDE. I keep in touch with several of them on a regular basis will be seeing many during the upcoming year.” Outside of PhiDE, Alex served as the President of Hellenic Students Association (the actual Greek people, not fraternities) and played ice hockey.
Angela Du
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Angela is a 3rd year at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The best part of PhiDE for Angela was meeting so many great people with similar passions, as well as getting to mix with other professional organizations. While at Cornell, Angela studied abroad in Denmark, worked as a Team Leader for Cornell Abroad, and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
Brian Fleischer
University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine
Brian Fleischer started the Cornell PhiDE chapter as a founding executive board member. His favorite memory was the chartering ceremony. Having worked so hard to draft a constitution, enlist faculty advisors, successfully run a rush campaign, and select the best initial pledge class was a lot of work, and seeing the culmination of those efforts in that ceremony was truly special. After graduating with a B.S. in Biological Engineering, Brian remained in Ithaca to earn his Master of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering while interviewing for medical schools. He graduated again and moved to New Orleans to begin medical school at Tulane University in the fall of 2013. Now, he is preparing to enter his general surgery residency at UChicago. Brian's research interests are in surgical equipment and device design and tissue engineering.
Danny Kaplan
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Danny is a 4th year student in medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently applying to Orthopaedic Surgery residency. Danny was one of the founding executive board members of the PhiDE Cornell chapter. His favorite PhiDE memory was working to get the chapter off the ground. For Danny, after first going through the administrative obstacles, then actually recruiting the inaugural class, sitting down at his first official meeting was an incredible moment. Aside from PhiDE, Danny was a member of the steering committee, publicity chair for Colleges Against Cancer, and secretary of his Greek fraternity for 3 years.
Emily Chu
Keck School of Medicine at USC
Emily is currently a first-year medical student at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Her favorite PhiDE experience was getting to volunteer with the brotherhood at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse and doing arts & crafts with the patients. Besides being in PhiDE, she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and served as the VP University and Community Relations for Panhellenic Council. She was also heavily involved with Cornell EMS.
Glen Francisco
University of Texas Medical Branch
Glen is a second-year medical student at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston,Texas. He is currently on the MD track with scholarly concentrations in both Public Health and Geriatric Medicine. His favorite experience as a PhiDE member was being able to meet and bond with other students that were all going through the exact same thing. Glen believes that being a pre-med at Cornell is no easy task, so just being connected with a group of other dedicated students in PhiDE to ask advice from, hang out with, or just vent to makes the experience much more doable. Outside of PhiDE, Glen worked in the Deitcher Lab where he studied neurogenetics using Drosophila as a model, finishing with an honors thesis. Glen was also a Student Advisor for the Bio major, through which he mentored groups of freshmen during their first year at Cornell and helped out with biology advising events throughout the year.
Hannah James
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Hannah was very involved in Cornell EMS and served this organization in both clinical and administrative leadership roles throughout undergrad. She also became involved in developing and launching Cayuga's Watchers during her sophomore year, serving as the Director of Operations until her graduation in 2015. These experiences allowed Hannah to learn about her strengths and skills related to health, and affirmed her interest in pursuing public health. Hannah is currently a graduate student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in the Department of Global Health and Population. Her favorite PhiDE memory was having the opportunity to meet peers across campus who were all passionate about health and helping people.
Latha Panchap
Weill Cornell Medical College
Latha is a first year medical student at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her favorite PhiDE memories center around Bid Day and meeting the newest PhiDE class members. For Latha, Bid Day was a great opportunity to meet the new pledges and welcome them into the family. Latha also served as the Vice President and Secretary of the Students of Diabetes Awareness and was the Philanthropy Chair for Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society.
Nick Suss

Nick is currently working as a Surgical Outcomes Research Program Fellow at NorthShore University HealthSystem, a Teaching Affiliate of The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, in Evanston, Illinois. In this role, Nick utilizes large databases to conduct statistical analyses assessing the efficacy of various treatment modality patterns, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, for patients with cancer of the breast(s), lung(s), or hepato-pancreato-biliary system. His favorite experience as a PhiDE Member was New Member's night freshman year. For Nick, everyone at PhiDE was incredibly welcoming. He took it as a great opportunity to meet and get acquainted with the older members of the Brotherhood, who served as fantastic role models throughout his experience at Cornell and beyond.
