Maria joined Phi Delta Epsilon in her freshman year and is excited to serve as the Webmaster, as well as co-Diversity and Inclusion Chair. Outside of PhiDE, Maria is a peer research mentor for CURB, a Big Red Student Ambassador, involved in the American Cancer Society, and a COVID-19 Peer Ambassador. This semester, she will be conducting research in the Levitsky Nutritional Sciences Lab and the Mehta Global Health Research Group, as well as working as a Hospital Aide at Cayuga Medical Center. Off campus, Maria has volunteered for the Molecular Cytology Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and shadowed a hematologist-oncologist, and is currently tutoring for the SAT and ACT. In her free time, Maria enjoys playing tennis and lacrosse, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with friends.

Daniel Volshteyn

Logistics Rush Chair

Daniel Volshteyn joined PhiDE in the fall of his freshman year and has cherished every moment of his involvement with this organization since. He is excited to act as the Logistics Rush Chair this semester and is hopeful he can organize a successful virtual recruitment experience that maintains the same core aspects of rush from previous semesters. Outside of PhiDE, Daniel is on the executive board for the Cornell Undergraduate Research Board and the Treasurer for the Cornell Men’s Club Swim Team. In his free time, Daniel enjoys spending time with friends, watching iconic movies, and staying active.

Clara Deley

Marketing Rush Chair

Clara joined PhiDE in Spring 2020 and is excited to serve as the Marketing Rush Chair for this semester. She is majoring in Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in Dietetics. She joined PhiDE to find a group of close friends to study with and who would support her pre-med experience. Outside of PhiDE, Clara plays Club Soccer, is a Human Ecology Ambassador, and a research assistant in the O’Brien lab. In her free time, Clara enjoys talking to friends and watching movies.

Kyra Kwok

Philanthropy Chair

Kyra joined PhiDE in Spring 2020. Her favorite part of PhiDE is the abundance of mentorship and support from the community. She is excited to run many philanthropic events with PhiDE such as Big Red Thon. Alongside PhiDE, Kyra has experience running the American Cancer Society event Relay for Life and currently serves as the Vice President of Cornell Colleges Against Cancer. Outside of PhiDE Kyra is a study group leader with the Biology Scholars Program and works as a researcher in Professor Andrew Moeller’s Lab. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her friends, baking cookies, and playing animal crossing.

Katie Meluni 

Community Service Chair & Co-Diversity and Inclusion Chair

College: Agriculture and Life Sciences

Katie is a junior in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majoring in biological sciences and minoring in infectious disease. She joined PhiDE in Spring 2020 and is eager to serve as the Community Service Chair. Katie loves being a part of PhiDE for the great friends and support system she has found. She is excited to work alongside organizations such as the Southern Tier AIDS Program and Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Outside of PhiDE, Katie is a part of Biology Services Leaders and Phi Sigma Pi, Cornell’s honor fraternity. She also volunteers at Helping Hounds, a dog shelter in Syracuse, and she has been making many masks this past summer to donate to healthcare workers. Beginning this year, Katie will work in the Buchon lab; she has also done cancer research at Upstate University Hospital. In her free time, Katie enjoys walking with her three dogs, spending time with her family, running, and hiking.

 

Courtney Landis

Courtney joined PhiDE in Spring 2020 and is excited to further academic and medical support among brothers this semester through her position. Outside of PhiDE, Courtney is a career assistant in Human Ecology’s Career Exploration Center, academic excellence chair of her sorority, and a research assistant in the Laboratory for Rational Decision Making and the Memory and Neuroscience Lab. In her free time, she she enjoys playing tennis and exploring Ithaca’s nature!

David Rusakow

Co- Academic and Medical Enrichment Chair

David is an aspiring physician writer and a third-year biological sciences major. On campus, he serves as co-president of Pre-Medical Minority Mentorship program, writes for the Cornell Healthcare Review, volunteers for Friends of Farmworkers, and directs events for Cornell Hip Hop Heads. In his free time, he enjoys basketball, reading, and hiking.

Aleah joined Phi Delta Epsilon in Fall of 2019. She is thankful for all the mentorship she has received from her peers. As the Diversity and Inclusion Chair, Aleah hopes to create a healthy environment for all members despite their background or social identity. Outside of Phi Delta Epsilon, Aleah is a TA for BioEE1780 and a research assistant for the PIP lab. She also serves as the secretary for the Curly Hair Initiative. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball and sleeping!

Charlotte joined Phi Delta Epsilon in her freshman year and is excited to serve as the Webmaster, as well as the Marketing Chair for the Anatomy Fashion Show, this semester. Outside of PhiDE, Charlotte is a Tradition Fellow, a POST (Pre Orientation Service Trip) leader, a program assistant and tutor for Cornell's STEP (Science and Technology Education Program) Program and the Founder and President of Cameradery, a student run photography program for people with cognitive and physical disabilities. Charlotte conducts research in the Cholkids lab studying the effects that the prenatal supplement choline may have on infant development. Off campus, Charlotte works in a pediatric neurology lab at Cornell Weill Medical College. In her free time, Charlotte enjoys baking with his friends, swimming, and photography.

Yasoda Mantena

Public Relations Chair

Yasoda joined PhiDE in the fall of her sophomore year. As an incoming transfer student, she found amazing support from her PhiDE family, which helped her navigate her way as a premed in Cornell. Her goals as PR Chair are to manage the fraternity's public image, widen PhiDE's outreach to a more diverse range of premeds on social media, and design cool apparel for the brothers! Outside of the fraternity, Yasoda studies bovine in vitro fertilization techniques at the Cheong Lab. She is also a Biology Student Advisor for the Office of Undergraduate Biology, is involved in GlobeMed and is a makeup artist for Thread Fashion magazine. She loves to spend as much of her free time outside as possible, but she also enjoys painting with watercolors, watching Spanish dramas and Bollywood movies, and weightlifting!

Nina Hazra

Nina is a senior who joined PhiDE in the spring of her freshman year. She's excited to serve as one of the Diversity and Inclusion chairs and Alumni Relations chairs this semester. Outside of PhiDE, she serves as the Vice President of the Cornell Democrats and is part of a mentorship program for Ithaca-area youth. She spent her summers working as a resident assistant for an academic summer program called the St. Albans School of Public Service and conducting clinical research in ophthalmology with a group at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. In her free time, she enjoys reading, doing OrangeTheory workouts, and listening to Taylor Swift.
